Judith (Judy) Munro brings over 30 years of senior management experience to her role as the Canadian President of the RHI Executive Search. Over the course of her career, she has held executive-level positions in finance, strategic planning, corporate development, operations and asset management within public and private company environments, from small entrepreneurial concerns to international multi-divisional operations. With extensive experience in real estate and hospitality, as well as the sport, entertainment, film, manufacturing, fashion and retail industries, Judy brings a unique blend of leadership, industry knowledge, hands-on experience and business acumen to her role in assisting clients with identifying, acquiring and retaining top-level talent in their respective industries and markets.
Experience
Judy’s most recent experience has been in the hospitality sector where she established her own successful hospitality asset management and investment advisory practice, undertaking various high-profile assignments for clients including Marriot, ClubLink, HSBC Bank, private equity investors and developers. Prior to that, she was the Executive Vice President of a privately-held real estate company owning hotel and multi-residential properties throughout North America, and former owner of Canada’s largest private hotel management company, Delta Hotels.
Earlier in her career, Judy held senior financial positions in two TSX listed public companies, as CFO of one of Canada’s largest garment manufacturers based in Vancouver, and VP & Treasurer of Nu-West Developments, a Calgary-based real estate development company, with commercial and residential projects throughout North America. Judy joined Nu-West following its $2 billion debt restructuring, in which she acted as financial advisor to the Canadian banks in her role as Senior Manager in the Insolvency and Business Restructuring Practice of Ernst & Young, where she began her professional career.
Personal and Professional Activities
Throughout her career, Judy has been actively involved in various charitable and professional activities. She served on the Board of publicly traded Summit REIT, until its $3.3 billion sale and subsequent privatization, and was Chair of its Corporate Governance Committee and a member of its Audit Committee. She also served as a Director of a publicly-traded venture capital fund.
Judy is a member and past President of the Toronto chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI), an organization of senior financial professionals representing North America’s leading corporations, with 16,000 members and over 700 members in Toronto. She has served on the Board of FEI’s Toronto and Vancouver Chapters for over two decades, chairing various committees. In 2009, Judy was honoured as the inaugural recipient of the FEI Canada Toronto Chapter Leadership Award, in recognition of her active volunteer contributions to the Chapter. Judy presently chairs FEI Canada’s Best in Class MBA Case Competition, an initiative which she founded six years ago, and is also a member of the YMCA’s Women of Distinction Committee.
Judy is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto.
